Description about Psyllium
Psyllium application is a product used for medical and industrial uses. It has been proved for remedial properties and customary uses. It helps in chronic constipation and other bacillary dysfunctions. A study shows that it helps in lowering human serum cholesterol level. When husk is emulsifying with liquids it swells like jelly mass.
Uses of psyllium

  • To maintain the good consistency of the juice psyllium is added to make it richer
  • Psyllium mucilage dispersions are relatively unaffected between temperatures of 68°F to 122°F, by pH from 2 to 10 and by salt (sodium chloride) concentrations up to 0.15 M. Due to this combination of natural fiber and psyllium leads to increased use by the food processing industry.

Animal Feed:
Psyllium is vastly used as cattle feed mainly for milk giving animals. As it has huge amount of medicinal properties and a 20%protein content, to increase the milk off-take.
Psyllium is used as preventive for sand accumulation in animals mainly in sandy region and to prevent choking when feeding psyllium a horse should have unlimited access to water, and horses that bustle their grain should slow down with the large rocks in their feeders.
